The wrist and hand are also a common source of complains among patients. Common symptoms include pain, numbness, tingling, stiffness, swelling, weakness. It is very frequent to have these issues after a slip and fall injury, a motor vehicle accident (MVA), overuse injury and work related injury.

Treatment

Treatment options depends on the pathology. Most injuries respond well to conservative management, including rest, ice, elevation, bracing, physical therapy, cortisone injections, and anti-inflammatory medications. Some other injuries may require surgical intervention, specially the ones that does not responded well to conservative management.

Carpal tunnel syndrome produce numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand. It can be treated with a minimal invasive carpal tunnel release to prevent permanent damage in the median nerve.

Trigger finger that doesn’t respond well to conservative management can also be treated with a trigger finger release to prevent irreversible damage.
